Troy (Banheep Sharks Captain)

Hi, My name is Troy. I am so grateful that I have been given the opportunity of being a house captain for the Banheep Sharks. I am also grateful that the other Banheep Sharks captain is Noah because he is one of my best mates. My favourite sports are surfing, footy and soccer. My favourite thing to do in my free time is drumming and I am in the school band. My favourite food is lamb stew and my favourite drink is water. I have a pet called Banjo, a sister called Samantha (Year 1) and a brother called Nathan (Year 5). I want to be a great role model for all the kids at OGPS and hope that next year my brother will become a house captain or even school captain.

Thank you.

Who’s heard of Maryborough (in central Victoria)? Well, that’s where I was born/grew up.

I attended the local primary school and high school (where 3 of my uncles taught) before I became a teacher.

It was great fun growing up on a farm where my sister and I had horses, motor-bikes, dogs, cats, pigeons, turkeys, geese, greyhounds, sheep, cows, ferrets, chickens and lots of other animals. We often went yabbying in the dams with our friends and it was so much fun! Sometimes we even rode our horses into the middle of the dam, parked them there so as we could jump off their backs, into the dam and go swimming!

My Dad had the local sports shop in town and it was always bustling with activity in there – the sports shop was the gathering point for a very sporty little town. If I wasn’t hanging out at Dad’s shop, I was at the school where my Mum was the Principal for some time – The Maryborough Special School. I have such fond memories of growing up in the bush and often head back there to catch up with family and to also indulge in some of the tastes of the beautiful Pyrenees.

A certain young man (now my husband) lured me to the coast and I’ve loved every minute of living by the beach. We have two children, a son and a daughter. My son enjoys motor-bikes and my daughter is really into horses and so, the story continues! My Dad often says, “I can’t believe we’re doing this horse thing all over again!”

Every single day I am grateful to work at Ocean Grove Primary School, alongside my colleagues, students and the wider school community. I often reflect on how close and united we are as a school community. We are so respectful of each other and appreciate and value the differences we all have.

Have a restful break everyone.

Kristy
