NAPLAN Testing
Lauren Hall, Julia O'Rourke and Val Kullrich
NAPLAN Tests for Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 (consisting of Writing, Reading, Conventions of Language and Numeracy) are scheduled to take place from Tuesday 11 to Friday 14 May Could parents please avoid making appointments that require students to miss school during this week.
At MCC we use a variety of tasks and assessments within our classes to inform our practice and provide feedback for students. NAPLAN results are used primarily for identifying general patterns of students learning progress which can provide information for review and improvement of teaching practices.
While students are encouraged to do their best, it is not expected that they will undertake specific study or practice to prepare for these tests. A general practice of the process was undertaken by students at the end of Term 1. It was pleasing to note, at the time of the practice, that the NAPLAN platform and the College’s connectivity functioned reliably.
Students should ensure that their devices are fully charged and that they have earphones with them for each test. Airpods are acceptable but must be fully charged.
It is a priority for us that the tests are run in a smooth and calm manner in order to avoid stress and we trust that parents and carers will support us in this endeavour.
