Primary Soccer
The JSSATIS soccer roster concluded on the final day of last term. Well done to everyone that gave it their all at soccer, and especially to those that were giving it a go for the first time. I hope the students had lots of fun and families enjoyed watching them.
I have enjoyed coaching the girls who have turned up every week with a great attitude and sense of fun. I have definitely seen an improvement over the season and the team performed well only losing a couple of games.
Tim Conrades, Year 5/6
They are such a lovely, clever and positive group of girls. It was a delight watching them learn the game, develop their strengths, support each other and have fun! They learnt about good sportswomanship and demonstrated a wonderful growth mindset. It was also great to experience the MCC community support with the girls' families each week and others pitching in to help with refereeing, set up/pack up, the odd ice pack and consistent cheering.
Zoe Tracey, Year 1/2 Girls
The boys worked really hard each week and there was great improvement. Most importantly they had great fun each week.
Lauren Haremza, Year 1/2 Boys
Thanks to all the secondary students that helped out with coaching and umpiring including Paola Varveris, Olivia Hart, Cecilia Bowman-Shaw, Rakaia Arahanga, Zoe Wilkinson, Isabella Heroys, Ava Smith, Hannah Mahmoud and Zali Elliott. Thanks also to the parents that gave up their time to Coach, Manage and Umpire including Susan Williams, Gerard McNulty, Lauren Haremza, Zoe Tracey, Rebecca O’Halloran, Hellen Varveris, Tim Conrades and Jen McLeod, and to Mr Lowe and Mrs Burrill who looked after all the students at lunchtime trainings.
Year 7/8 Soccer
The SSATIS Year 7/8 Soccer roster also concluded in the last week of term one. The team included mostly Year 7 students, with many players returning to give soccer a go after many years. The roster provided a good challenge, with some tough games as well as some, where scoring was easier. After the round matches, Mount Carmel finished 3rd in their pool, and faced Mackillop in a cross over final. Although the team battled hard, Mackillop were too strong on the day, winning the match. The team had a lot of fun and laughs along the way, so hopefully the majority of the team will be back next year.
Primary Hockey
The Hockey Tasmania Primary Hockey roster commenced on Saturday, on a beautiful sunny day. Mount Carmel is represented by two Year 1/2 teams in quarter field, a Year 3/4 team in half field, and six Year 5/6 players have joined with St Mary’s to make up a team in the Full Field roster. The teams had a practice at school last Wednesday, and enjoyed a great start to their rosters. Good luck to all the teams for the season!
