Principal's News

Dear Parents / Carers,

Last Thursday and Friday I was in Warrnambool reviewing another school as part of the Review Panel and as part of the continuous cycle of review that all of our Catholic Schools in the Ballarat Diocese are part of. It’s a great exercise for me to spend two full days in another school having a real good snoop. Looking at what they do well and what are the areas for improvement in a different school setting are. Our own school is to be reviewed in the same way in 2022, so for us the reflection has already begun.

ENROLMENTS 2022 I am currently meeting parents who would like to enrol children in our Foundation Classes (Grade Prep) for 2022. Parents from our school community who have children that will be ready to start our Foundation Grade in 2022 should have received an Enrolment Application Form from their eldest child at our school today!

However, this becomes a bit tricky when the eldest child is only in Grade Prep or One. The information can become a little unreliable - I recall from previous years one Prep student who was very keen for her 6 month old brother to start school the following year and was pretty keen on taking home an Enrolment Form. So, if we have missed you, please telephone the school office and we will send one home.

Ideally I would like all Enrolment Applications by June 18th, in order that I can write to all applicants by the end of Term 2.

SCHOOL HATS Sacred Heart is a “Sun Smart School” and as such requires our students to wear a hat whenever they are outside between the last week in August and the end of April. As we are nearing the end of April the children should take their hats home at the end of this week where they can be washed and re-named as necessary. Thank you to parents for their cooperation with this life saving policy.

A.N.Z.A.C. DAY SERVICES Thank you to Mrs Daffy who took our school leaders down to Memorial Square last Friday to represent us at the local services. Mrs Daffy’s praise for these children was glowing, to say the least. Thank you kids - we all like to be represented exactly like that. By the way we will be presenting these leaders to the school community at this Friday’s Assembly. Unfortunately, I rang again this morning to see whether parents were permitted to attend assemblies and “Not yet” was the response.
