Futures Hub

During International Women’s Week, Harper Connors attended the Women in Manufacturing event, celebrating the roles of women in manufacturing.  It was a morning listening to a panel of speakers talk about their experiences in the manufacturing sector and the opportunities in manufacturing for women and girls.  There was a great focus on emerging technologies, STEM, and the importance of creative thinking and collaboration in the sector.

Harper had the opportunity to discuss her subject selections with the Queensland Minister for Regional Development and Manufacturing and Minister for Water, the Honourable Glenn Butcher.  She was also fortunate to share a table for breakfast with Australian fashion designer Sacha Drake to learn more about the textile design and fashion industry.  She represented Mount Alvernia with great pride, along with other school students from around Brisbane.
