Hello everyone,

While restrictions have and continue to be in place, I would like to share a couple of positive items with the wider College community.

During our recent Family Connect meeting, it was identified that students would benefit from touch-typing skill development.  To support this need, the College has access to multiple free touch-typing resources.  “Typing Tournament” is software the Diocese provides under a fully licensed subscription to all students.  The website address for this is:  www.typingtournament.com/go.  “Typing Club Team” is also available through the Google Web Store but may not appeal to students as it doesn’t “gamify” the experience as well as the other program.

If students are not already using these resources, then please let your son or daughter know that they are available for their use.

Family Connect were also approached to financially support the Missio Dei group Mental Health Week Challenge for Term 2.  Members believed that this was an excellent initiative with funding provided to purchase gift vouchers/prizes across both junior and senior levels of the College in support of student mental health.

As the College term draws to an end, I think we can all agree that a certain level of fatigue is being experienced by all, students, educators and families alike.

These school holidays are a time to recharge the batteries and commence next term with enthusiasm and energy to hit the ground running and that is what Family Connect intend to do.  Recently at the Catholic School Parents Queensland - Diocese of Cairns meeting, the challenge was put to us to define our role within the College community.

To that extent, Family Connect invites all parents and caregivers to engage with us on Tuesday 15th July between 5.00pm – 7.00pm in the College Library to shape the vision and purpose of Family Connect today and into the future.

Enjoy your break.
