Parish Chaplain

Fr Paul

Friends,

Praise the Lord that we all can return to our school to catch up with all studies and with friends. All of us have many stories to tell and experience to share since the COVID-19 social distancing took place in the world and our country.

In the Last two months we missed out on many feast days and lots of occasions to receive Sacraments which help to bring us closer the Lord. We cannot gather at the Church to pay our homage to the Lord, we cannot open the Church for the faithful to visit the Lord in the Blessed Sacrament of the Eucharist. Despite the difficulties and restrictions of social distancing, many people have turned to God as their Saviour and prayed on their knees.

Moreover, because of the restrictions applied to the elderly and vulnerable people, many young people and young families were volunteered to assist any service at the Church, especially Holy Week and Easter celebrations. All Holy Masses have been live-streamed on Facebook of Sacred Heart Parish Griffith every day to help the community of faith not only in Griffith and but around the world as well. Many people confess that they haven't been to the Church for a long time. Now they are so happy to see Sacred Heart Church on Facebook and reminisce about their days of first Holy Communion and Confirmation. We pray for them and for us too to find our way back to God our Saviour.

On Pentecost Sunday (31/5)our college will serve the 10:30 mass at Sacred Heart Parish and will be live-streamed on the parish Facebook. Though we cannot all be there to pray on our knees for our families and our friends, we can participate in the Holy Mass at this time via Facebook in communion with our college and our parish.

Then next Monday we have a beautiful chance, a blessed day to participate in the MCC Founders Day service and give thanks to the Lord for our school and pray for those who sacrificed their lives in different ways to establish and to serve our college.

May the Lord grant many blessings upon each one of us, protect us from all dangers, and bring us close to His Sacred Heart, through the intercessions of our Blessed Virgin Mother Mary.

Dear friends,

Let us not forget that many of our friends in Australia still cannot return to their schools. Let us keep praying for our friends and our country. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect Australians’ lives, including their worship, the Catholic bishops will entrust the country to the care of Mary Help of Christians on her feast day (24/5) - Mary Help of Christians has been the official patroness of Australia since 1844.

I encourage you all to say this prayer which was recommended by Australian Bishops.

O Immaculate Mary, Help of Christians, Queen of heaven and

earth, and tender Mother of humanity, at this time when a

pandemic threatens all your children, we entrust to you our

nation, Australia, and all who live in this country.

We commit to your intercession all the members of our

community, beginning with the weakest ones, from the unborn

to the sick, the disabled and the elderly.

We commit to you our families, our young and old, and all who

are vulnerable, those who are quarantined or anxious.

We entrust to your Immaculate Heart those who have lost their

livelihood or employment, our pastors and other essential

service workers, and our leaders at this time.

We implore your intercession especially for the protection of

doctors and nurses and those who minister to the contagious

sick in this crisis.

Reign over us, Mother of God, and teach us how to make the

Heart of Jesus reign and triumph in us and around us, as it has

reigned and triumphed in you!

Last good news is that we have a new shepherd, a new bishop for our diocese of Wagga Wagga Let us remember his name, Mark Edwards, and pray for our bishop. Hopefully, he will visit our college when his time comes.
