Senior school announcement

Dear Students, Parent and Carers,

 

We are pleased to announce that as of last night, the VCE Exam and GAT Exam schedule has been released.

 

The Premier and the Minister for Education have announced the timeline for the 2020 VCE examinations. This is great news for senior secondary students, their families and teachers supporting them during this unprecedented global event. 

This has enabled the Victorian Government to amend the previously announced VCE examination timeline to ensure students can complete their exams and receive results before the end of 2020. 

Importantly, the schedule gives sufficient time for teachers and students to complete adjusted VCE Unit 4 learning and school-based assessments and prepare for VCE examinations. 

 

VCE Exam details below:

  • Exams 9th November and 2nd December 2020, so that ATAR scores can be calculated and VCE and VCAL students will receive their results before the end of 2020. This announcement will give certainty to VCE students whose studies have been interrupted by coronavirus.
  • The VCAA has worked closely with the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) on the 2020 exam schedule to deliver results before the end of 2020. This means that university offers for 2021 can be made to Victorian students in alignment with their peers around Australia.
  • The VCE exam schedule will be published on the VCAA website following the Minister’s announcement. The date for the General Achievement Test has also now been confirmed as Wednesday 9 September 2020. Specific information on the VCE exam timetable will be provided before the start of Term 3.

The following revised examination periods for 2020 were approved by the VCAA Board on 20 May 2020:

  • Extended Investigation Critical Thinking Test - Wednesday 12 August
  • General Achievement Test (GAT) - Wednesday 9 September
  • Performance and Languages oral examinations and Extended Investigation: oral presentations - Monday 12 October – Sunday 8 November
  • Languages (CCAFL) written examinations - Tuesday 20 October
  • Auslan examination - Wednesday 21 October
  • Written examinations - Monday 9 November – Wednesday 2 December

The 2020 VCE examination timetable will be published before the end of Term 2.
