The outdoor classroom

Old Collegian Morgan Tehan left Trinity at the end of Year 11 in 2018 to join the Army and completed his Army Basic Training successfully at Kapooka, New South Wales in 2019.

While many of his former classmates have had interrupted starts to their working lives or further study due to CIVID-19, Morgan is now based at Puckapunyal at the School of Artillery immersed in his soldier training.

In his Artillery unit he is on a maintenance team working with the big guns - Howitzers etc. In recent weeks he has been out in the field camping and moving the guns to new areas.

They got bogged 26 times in one week as the late autumn and winter rains hit.

The Howitzers weigh 3,400 kilograms, so it's not easy to get them unbogged!

Morgan will be at Puckapunyal until 2023 unless he requests a transfer to another state, but is enjoying his time there and doesn’t intend on transferring at this stage.
