Head of Senior Years
Mrs Christine Taylor
This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. (Psalm 118:24)
Welcome to the start of the 2022 academic year! It was such a joy to see all of the students on the first day of the year, and they were also clearly happy to be in the Senior Years building with their friends and teachers. Even with their masks on, we could see their eyes smiling.
2022 has seen us welcome quite a number of new students in both Year 10 and 11. There were a few first day nerves but all now seem settled and are getting used to the routine of our College day. I welcome both the students and their families to the community of Good News and the TEAM (Together [with God] everyone achieves more) that makes up the Senior Years here at the College.
I would like to take a moment to congratulate the wonderful VCE successes of the class of 2021 – we are very proud of them and their achievements. They are all now following quite a variety of pathways and we wish them all well for their future endeavours, whether in the workplace, at TAFE or University.
Elections have taken place in all Year Levels and the first meeting has taken place, chaired by the College Captains. Having been robbed of so many fun days, the SLC thought that a fun fundraising day would be a real tonic for everyone, and Valentine’s Day has been chosen to start the year off. The Captains received permission to run the event from College Leadership and all are invited to participate by wearing either a pink or red accessory to the school uniform. Those participating are asked to donate a dollar. All monies will be donated to charity.

Iman Fahad, Taylah McFarlane and Prabhjot Osahan. We know that they will embrace the leadership opportunity these roles offer. May God bless them as they step up to represent their peers.
Mr V Hnatejko

Congratulation to Shaun Roy, Rita Hamu and Shalom Belete. There will be opportunities for them to network with other leaders in the school, attend personal development and to meet the College Leadership on a regular basis. We wish them a successful year and pray that God bless all their undertakings.
Ms M Mtambara (YLC)
Mr West has started a debating club at lunchtime, with the intention of joining the Debating Association of Victoria (DAV), with the goal of taking the students to debates and entering debating competitions, as they progress with their skills.
A book club has already started to meet once a week at lunchtime, upstairs in the SY building. The members are eager to discuss the finer points of literature. All are welcome.
This will be my last Newsletter for a while as I am on long service leave for seven weeks. I leave the Senior Years in the capable hands of Mr Rodney Latham and pray that the Lord will bless him in the role of Acting Head of Senior Years.
