Principal's Report
by David Lord
After the extended periods of remote learning in 2020 & 2021 we have a particularly strong focus on ensuring all students are learning effectively in 2022. The first, and most important, step in doing this is for students to attend school every day with the materials that they need for class.
As I have visited classes it has been fantastic to see almost all students setting up their interactive notebooks in class and following the routines of our school wide lesson structure. Consistent learning routines inside and outside of school are also an important in ensuring students are learning effectively.
This week Term Overviews will be sent out to families via XUNO giving a brief run down of what students will be learning this term. This is a great opportunity for us to work together. By talking to students about what they are doing at home it helps reinforce what we are doing at school. It will also allow a richer conversation at our parent Teacher Student Conferences at the end of this term.
In response to the Royal Commission into Institutional Reponses to Child Sexual Abuse, all schools are required to implement minimum Child Safety Standards. At Staughton College, we hold the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people as a central and fundamental responsibility of our school. We have fully implemented all of the standards, including a Child Safe Policy and Code of Conduct. Both of these documents can be found on our website. I will be regularly reminding our school community of these policies as part of our ongoing commitment to the safety and wellbeing of the children in our care.

We, at Staughton College, would like to show our respect and acknowledge the traditional custodians of the land on which our school is situated, of elders past and present. We extend a warm welcome to everyone who visits our school.
