Donations of baby toiletries needed for St Kilda Mums

As part of our Service Learning Program, our Year 8’s will be making baby toiletry packs for St Kilda Mums in celebration of International Women’s Day. We are currently calling anyone across the school to bring in any of the baby toiletries listed below:

  • baby bath wash
  • baby shampoo
  • baby toothbrush and toothpaste
  • nappy cream
  • baby lotion
  • baby wipes
  • nappies (newborn size 1 and 2 preferred)

We would appreciate any of the above to be dropped off in the Middle Years Coordinator's Office or at Reception over the coming weeks. The students will be packing these on 24 February so please jump in quick if you’re able to!

St Kilda Mums supports struggling women and families through generous donations. Their baby packs are always flying out the door and Shelford would love to continue to support them this year. Thank you in advance for anything you’re able to donate! Please contact Claire Cheeseman at ccheeseman@shelford.vic.edu.au if you have any questions.

Upcoming service opportunity: Gen2Gen educational street art project

On Sunday 20 March Gen2Gen Cultures Without Borders are running their third educational street art project at 83 Dover St Cremore (near Richmond Station). It will run from 10am–4pm and is open for all students from Years 7 to 12. One of their projects can be seen just across the road from Shelford and students last year took part! Students will be working on a multicultural art project.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to take part in a community project which can be added to their resume and something that makes them feel wonderful, while serving the community too!

You can find more details and sign up here. Permission from parents is required for students to participate. Any questions can be directed to Lani Brayer who can be contacted through email or phone at gen2genproject@gmail.com and 0400 600 693.

Thank you: Christmas Appeal 2021

A huge thank you to everyone who generously donated to last year’s Christmas Appeal put on by our Service Committee. This came together very quickly and we were overwhelmed with the rush of beautiful gifts from across the school. They were donated to Berry Street who supports disadvantaged children and provides struggling families these wonderful gifts during the Christmas season to ensure no one misses out on a gift! Below is a photo of the amazing gifts underneath our Giving Tree.

Join the Service Committee

Any students in the Senior School are invited to join the Service Committee! This is a group who will meet on Monday’s at lunch every fortnight to discuss what we can be doing around the school. We will work on whole school service projects like Go Grey in May Day and the Christmas Appeal. If anyone is interested they should email Claire Cheeseman at ccheeseman@shelford.vic.edu.au and answer these two questions: Why do I want to join the Service Committee? and If I could change one thing in the world what would it be?
