Victorian Government COVID Roadmap to Reopening

The announcement on Sunday included some changes to restrictions for those living in Metropolitan Melbourne.

Details are available on the link to the government website provided below.

The Department of Education and Training is developing guidelines for schools regarding the return of P-2 students to on-site learning in Term 4.

As we have done previously during Term 2 and 3, we will advise families of the routines for resumption once the department has provided guidelines for all schools to follow.

Stay safe and stay well everyone.

Technology in the classroom

As the weather warms up and Term 3 winds down, it’s a great opportunity to reflect on the term that’s been and where to from here. As a result of the pandemic BPS pivoted to Home Learning and online delivery, and the lessons learnt during this period are helping us to consolidate and enhance the way we do things as we move into a new normal.

Harnessing innovative technology in the classroom has been the name of the game for a while now, but the flip to remote learning and teaching has put into focus the increasingly central role that technology plays in education. How we integrate technology into teaching continues to be critical as it will equip our students with the skills and knowledge for success in a society that is being so rapidly transformed by digital technologies.

Parenting Workshop with Lael Stone

Recording available until 23rd September

On Monday evening many of our families went online for the Connected Parenting Workshop. The session with Lael was fantastic. It was very timely for our community following the news from the day before regarding the continuation of restrictions.

Lael provided wonderful messages of support and simple strategies for families to use at home to manage in these challenging times. Her common sense approach was refreshing and very helpful.

We highly recommend that our families put an hour aside to listen to Lael. Some families may wish to revisit the session because she certainly provided an abundance of information on the night.

A huge thank you to Miss Mikaela Redlich for organising the event as a gesture of support for our amazing families.

Below is the link to the recording and it will expire at midnight on 23rd September.

September is Bayside Youth Wellness Month

Wellbeing activities for families

Thank you to Miss Grace Hulls for continuing to attend Upstanders meetings with local schools and for sharing local Bayside wellbeing activities  available to our families.

Created by the Boombox Events Youth Committee, Youth Wellness Month encourages us to check in with ourselves, our friends and learn new tips on getting back up when we are feeling down. Check out the link below for ways to get involved. This event is aimed at young people 10-25 with a connection to Bayside (live, work, study, play).

Sign the pledge

Let us know how you will be looking after your wellbeing this September and we will send you a FREE self-care pack! This will include snacks, a drink bottle, either a skipping rope, colouring book or face mask and much more.

Listen to our Sports Stars

We have asked Nathan Charles and Jo Brigden Jones, two prominent Australian athletes to join us for a conversation on THURSDAY 10 SEPTEMBER to tell us their tips on overcoming adversity, the connection between physical and mental health and how we can have hope during hard times.

Meet the youth committee

The Boombox Events FReeZA committee plan youth events for their peers that are drug, smoke and alcohol free. They were concerned about their peers and their mental health during COVID-19 and wanted to develop an event that would encourage teenagers to check in on themselves and their friends. Read their interviews to find out their hobbies in isolation, how they pick themselves up when they are feeling down and what they are looking forward to when restrictions ease.

A friendly reminder:

Whole School Planning for 2021:

Prep enrolments are due now.

Also please advise the office if your child/children will not be returning next year.

If you have a child commencing in Prep 2021 and the child is not yet enrolled for next year please complete an enrolment form and return it to the office as enrolments are now due.  As in all school communities, some families relocate at the end of the year. Please advise the office if you will not be returning to BPS in 2021.

Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?
