Message from Mr Russo

Dear Parents

Parent Teacher Conferences

A reminder to all families that bookings close on Monday 7 September. These will take place via Zoom Meetings between 9.00am and 5.00pm on Tuesday 8 September and from 1.00pm until 5.00pm on Wednesday 9 September. To allow for this to occur, there will be no remote learning scheduled for Tuesday 8th and Team Kids will operate to support those normally onsite - bookings essential. On Wednesday the 9th, remote learning will go ahead as planned but there will be no 3pm catch up. Our onsite remote learners will be supported until 3.15pm by St Brigid’s staff.

Codes for your meetings will be sent out via email - (parent email not student email) on Monday. These will allow you to access the waiting room for your child’s virtual meeting and once available at your allocated time slot you will enter the virtual meeting space. Meetings are schedule to run for approximately 8-9 minutes.

If you experience any difficulty with this process - please email your child’s teacher - as staff are working remotely. Please do not call the school office - we cannot help you as all staff are off site.

The focus for discussion centres around 3 key areas: Your Child’s Semester 1 report, Remote Learning during term 3 and Student/Family wellbeing. Meetings which need longer than the allocated time need to continue at a time outside this format at a mutually agreed time, as there will be other families waiting online to access staff. Students are encouraged to be present.

This is the first time our staff have undertaken this process for parent teacher contact, I ask for your support and patience, with every best-laid plan we aim for this to run smoothly.

Building Project Official Blessing and Opening - Wednesday 16 September

Due to all of the COVID-19 restrictions, we have not been able to undertake the official opening and blessing which is an important part of the program. Therefore, we have collaborated with the Victorian School Building Authority and Catholic Education Melbourne to innovate and hold the first remote opening to a building project here in Victoria. Fr Andrew will be blessing our new buildings and the Hon Mr Tim Richardson - State Member for Mordialloc and Parliamentary Secretary for Schools will be officially opening our new buildings. Various members of our student, staff and parent community are involved. This will be available for all to view on Wednesday 16 September at 11.00am. A link will be circulated to all in our community. A very exciting time for our school!

Remote Assembly - this Friday

This Friday we will circulate a link to all to enjoy an assembly put together by our Public Relations Students with support from Mrs Sullivan. Lots of fun - I remember when we could gather in the hall to do this - hope this can be a part of our term 4 routines.

Classes 2021

It is that time of year when we seek feedback from families in relation to your child’s needs for class placement in 2021. This information is one of many which helps us to construct our classes for next year. These are not to be requests for teachers nor seen to be binding once sent. Your feedback combined with staff and student feedback will ensure a fully informed decision making process for 2021 class formation. If you wish to provide feedback, it must be done via email and sent to our Deputy Principal Mrs Wendy Sullivan wsullivan@sbmord.catholic.edu.au by Friday 18 September.  Please do not do this via your child’s classroom teacher.  All correspondence is managed in confidence.

Last Week of Term

We have planned a lighter week for the final week of term where each day is themed. We are aiming to enjoy a fun end to the term where hopefully this will lead to a return to onsite activity in term 4.
