Junior School News

Student Action!

On Friday 28 August St Gregory’s College acknowledged Daffodil Day by having the Junior School wearing a yellow accessory to school and also raising money for a much-needed cause. The Junior School raised $486 which was fantastic.

Archie Keenan in Kindergarten Maroon, unfortunately, missed school this day and didn’t get to participate in the gold coin donation. As Archie was so keen to be involved in this worthy cause, he sprung into action over the weekend with an idea for a lemonade stand to raise money for Daffodil Day.

It is quite remarkable by Archie raised $392.90 with his family and he also raised another $33 from online donations with his family in Ireland. This must have been some great tasting lemonade!

Archie is very proud of his achievements and was super excited when he brought the money into school that he raised. Well done Archie and the Keenan family!

Public Speaking 2020

The 2020 Public Speaking Program was finalised this week with four students from each class competing in the grade finals. From Kindergarten through to Year 6, every student in the Junior School has participated in the public speaking program, which involved writing and presenting a speech throughout Term 3.

The finalists displayed very strong skills in using eye contact, expression, voice projection and preparation. For some students this required some risk-taking, for some students this required a great deal of thinking and for all, it was about becoming better communicators – expressing ourselves confidently and creatively.

One student has been selected from each class to present at the Public Speaking Showcase on Friday 18th September at 2.00pm. Parents of the Junior School will be sent a link via email, please keep an eye out for this.

Congratulations to all our finalists and winners.
