VICTORIAN HIGH-ABILITY PROGRAM

$60.2 million to support government primary and secondary schools to challenge and extend their high-ability students.

The Victorian High-Ability program will provide up to 48,000 high-ability students in Years 5 to 8 at government schools the opportunity to participate in 10-week online extension and enrichment programs in English and Mathematics.

The virtual program, delivered by Virtual School Victoria, will focus on extending and developing students' Mathematics and English abilities. After completing the virtual program, students will participate in a face-to-face masterclass with other high-ability students from schools in their local area.

The Department of Education centrally managed the selection of students for this year's program using an algorithm based on past NAPLAN results and Teacher Judgments.  Out of 600 students Victoria-wide, Great Ryrie Primary School has had five students selected for the first round of the High-Ability Program.

Congratulations to:

  • Janna of 56C
  • David of 56B
  • Trevin of 56A
  • Miller of 56D
  • Aiden of 56D

These students will join other high-ability students in weekly online classes every Wednesday and a Masterclass with Ms Jacobs in Week 10.
