Science Week

National Science Week 15th – 23rd August

This year's National Science Week theme was Deep Blue: innovation for the future of our oceans and students celebrated in many different ways. Some participated in an escape room challenge where students delved into the deep blue as part of the crew in a submerged research vessel, completing a series of challenges in order to switch to the emergency battery and turn the lights back on. Hopefully they weren’t left in the dark. Kitchens were turned into laboratories to investigate the principles of density and buoyant force. Super sleuth skills were put into action as students solved riddles and while completing a scavenger hunt around their homes. Artistic talents were shown off by many who entered the Science Morning Tea competition and the Recycled Ocean Art competition. Standards were high which made deciding a winner a very difficult task. A big thank you to Kerry Davies who ran the Science Morning Tea competition and organised prizes. The winner of each competition will receive a Yarra Valley Chocolaterie prize.
