From the Principal Class Team

Lateness blitz – School starts at 8.45am
We are currently conducting a sustained ‘blitz’ on student lateness, particularly at the start of the day.
Students need to arrive at school no later than 8.45am in order to allow them enough time to get to their lockers and be ready for class at 8.55am.
We ask for parents’ support to ensure that your children leave home in time, or are dropped off by 8.45am.
We are contacting parents of students who have been late to school 3 or more times this term.
60th Anniversary Open Day, Sunday 12 June
Just a reminder, that on Sunday 12 June, the school will host an Open Day as part of its 60th Anniversary celebrations.
We are looking forward to welcoming past students and staff to the day to meet up with old friends, tour the school facilities, hear some fabulous musical performance (including from past MAC shows), & enjoy some great food prepared by our students.
The Honorable Bill Shorten will give the keynote address on the day.
Secondary STEM Catalysts Initiative
St Albans Secondary College has been selected as one of 30 government secondary schools to participate in an exciting initiative over the next two years. Two teachers from our school will join 58 other teachers from across Victoria as ‘catalysts’ to bring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) to life in a fun and engaging way for Years 7 and 8 students.
This initiative supports the national & state science, technology, engineering and mathematics agenda, as well as our school’s goal to enhance technology and engineering, in particular.
Congratulations and thanks to Ms Lynne Borle, Science Learning Area Coordinator, for leadership of our application.
Recognition of positive student behaviour
Thank you to a member of the public who recently took time to write to the school to acknowledge the positive behaviour of a group of our students who were on a Year 10 History excursion in the city.
"I would like to applaud the St Albans Secondary College students, which you have since informed me are the year 10 history students on a People and Places excursion to St Kilda/Port Melb, with their teacher Ms Amy Lee.
I regularly observe the behaviour of students travelling on public transport who would definitely benefit by “taking a leaf” out of the St Albans Secondary College students book of good manners and respect.
I want to express how the excellent conduct of your students was exemplary, they offered seats to older passengers, moved bags to accommodate access, their discussions were respectful to each other, I heard no swearing (which in this day and age is unbelievable) and their “tram voices” were more courteous than many older passengers who travel on public transport.
Please ensure my best wishes and this message is passed on to the students as they are a credit to the College, themselves and are outstanding role models to the younger students".
