Assistant Principals Report

The Olympic Games

The Olympics are featuring in many of the classes this fortnight. It is great to see the enthusiasm and motivation such a global event brings when Australia wins gold or Usain Bolt moves into overdrive. Many classes are focussing their learning around the games which are a  great opportunity to bring together different aspects of the curriculum. Physical Education is the obvious area but the Olympics also give classes an opportunity to integrate Literacy, Numeracy, Geography, Society, History, Diversity and Culture. Importantly the Olympics are a chance to show that our Concord Student Values of “Personal Best” “Respect,” “Honesty” “Cooperation” are as relevant to the world stage as they are to our daily lives at Concord.

In many classes students track the Australian Medal table as well as choosing another country  to support. While we celebrate the winners it is also about achieving a personal best and just like the international athletes our students are also trying “to be the best they can be”
