Year 12 Studio Arts

Studio Arts 2018

Congratulations students of the Studio Art class of 2018. You have successfully graduated from your VCE studies and are ready (hopefully) to venture out into the big wide world of creativity called life. I am so proud of all your achievements, efforts and artworks you have strived so hard to convey your messages of belief, passion and ideas for a brighter future.

This year has been filled with so many adventurous and imaginative memories that I have shared with you all throughout this school journey. You have proved and demonstrated our new school values of respect, achievement and responsibility by your dedication to your studies and appreciation of the process of studio art from your initial generation of ideas from the inspiring artists and artworks viewed online and in art galleries and spaces in Melbourne and Ballarat.

You have learned what it takes to be involved in the art industry with in depth discussions and presentations given by curators and artists who live for their work to be viewed by the world. You have seen first-hand how complex and wonderfully rewarding the business of art can be and it has given you a renewed sense of belonging into the art realm. There are so many exciting occupations that will embrace your developing artistic skills and further educational courses that will benefit from your knowledge and flare for the visual arts.

Some special words of artistic wisdom by our 2018 Studio Art students:

‘The folio process has conditioned me to constantly be critiquing my own work to find ways to improve the end result. I have a better eye for detail and knowledge of art elements and principles, which I can now use to create more refined artworks.’ – Dakota Noakes

‘In studio art, I’ve enjoyed the experimentation of media and different art forms, as well as learning a further variety of ways in which art can be presented or produced.’ – Crystal Edlin

‘Art knowledge and skills help us in the real world by giving us a creative outlet to express all of our feelings and thoughts which would otherwise stay locked up. Art has shown me that the people of the world have many ideas and I never realised just how diverse the ways of expressing these ideas were.’ – Xavier Slifka

We all wish you well in your future endeavours and best of luck on your exams!
