EMAIL NOT TO BE USED TO CHANGE DAILY ATTENDANCES

EMAIL TO BE USED for changing permanent bookings, making advanced bookings/cancellations  (ie holiday program, school closure days), account queries, addressing special needs, incidents that need clarification, and the like. Emails are not checked prior to a session as administrative duties are addressed off site and away from the service as our priority lies with the active supervision of children, their development and wellbeing.

Having said all of the above, if children ever find themselves confused, not knowing where they're supposed to be, please have a "back up plan" by stating they can always go to after care and together we can resolve their situation. This is an important aspect of children’s “belonging, being and becoming” which involves them learning independence, coping skills and OSHC Educators available  to children for support and to provide a secure base for children as needed. Re-enrolment 2019 – 8 Week Rule

The service has noticed that after re-opening after the Christmas/New Year break some children’s enrolments have been ceased. This is because under the new Child Care Subsidy, a child ‘ceases to be enrolled’ if eight continuous weeks pass without the child attending a session of care at the service.

Where this has occurred, if children are continuing in care then we will re-enrol them. We do however ask that families re-confirm their status via  myGov.

If families don’t notify the service of their interest to continue care then the service will archive the records at the end of this term. This means care has been cancelled and to re-enrol parents must complete a new enrolment form.

OSHC APRIL SCHOOL HOLIDAY PROGRAM

Belonging  and Connectedness

Children need to feel that their world is a safe place

Children need to know they’re cared for, that their needs are met, and that they can get help when they need it.

When children have these things they develop strong feelings of belonging and inclusion, which improves their mental health and wellbeing.

Benefits of belonging

Children who feel a sense of belonging and connectedness at their OSHC will be happy, more relaxed and have fewer behaviour problems than others.

They are also more motivated and successful learners.

There are benefits when parents and carers feel a sense of belonging and connectedness too.

It’s important to feel included

When children feel included, they are more likely to be accepting of others and sensitive to their needs, and they feel safer and more secure.

The best learning happens when children see the adults around them putting values like care, compassion, respect, understanding and inclusion into practice.

An inclusive service is one that understands respects, welcomes, celebrates and honours the diversity of children, families and staff. (The Spoke, Early Childhood Blog)

In an inclusive community,

Every face has a place,

Every voice is valued and

Everyone has something to contribute.

Belonging  and Connectedness-Foundation Children

Responsive, positive relationships between children and the Educators and volunteers at OSHC are crucial in building children’s self-esteem and resilience which further assist them to make effective transitions, and encourage children's overall growth and development. This is especially important during the transition of preps. Educators and volunteers help children feel secure, which frees them to explore and play. Educators harness opportunities for children to learn life skills such as safely walking to and from OSHC and school, encourage play outside their normal peer group, and preparing food.
