Campaspe Swimming Sports

What an amazing campaign we had at the Campaspe Swimming Sports on Monday 25th March at the Echuca Pool.

It was the boys who dominated in the pool.

Every Boys 4x50m Freestyle Relay team won their race (ie 13yr, 14yr, 15yr, 16yr and 17yr)!

The girls weren’t far behind with the 15yr Girls winning and every other Girls 4x50m Freestyle Relay coming in second place except one team who came third.

In the 4x50m Free Open Boys Relay, made up by the team that come second in state last year (Logan Batey, Kynan Batey, Tom Watson and Darcy Ramage) not only did they win, but broke the record by 5 seconds from 1991 with a time of 1:59.22.  Looks like these boys could be on track to claim the state title this year… watch this space!!  The four also teamed up for the 4x50m Medley Relay and it was amazing to see them swim so beautifully to bring home first place.

Nash Ramage won the 14yr Age Champion and Kynan Batey the 17yr Age Champion.

Overall we were placed second on the day.  It was a great team effort by all students who stepped up to swim in events that needed filling and a special mention to the 15yo Girls who competed for extra points in the Open Medley Relay and came second!!

Bring on some more exciting results from the LMR event in Swan Hill in a few weeks where we are represented in 11 individual events and 7 relay events.

Good luck everyone!

Senior Boys Cricket

On Friday 22nd of February, the Senior Boys Cricket team travelled to Nathalia to play in a 20/20 competition. Our first game was against Kyabram and we batted first. We got off to a good start but lost wickets at regular intervals to get to a score of all out for 88 after 11 overs, one bowler from Kyabram taking five wickets. Top scorers of the innings were Will Devlin and Angus Martin. In reply, Kyabram got off to a good start and were quite lucky during their innings with chances falling short or in the gaps. Kyabram chased the runs only losing three wickets in 13 overs.

Our second game was against St. Mary's in which we bowled first in a 15 over a side game. St. Mary's scored a total of 8-128 in their 15 overs. The pick of our bowlers was Kieran Hogan taking three wickets in his two overs. In reply, St. Joseph';s had a similar issue to the first game, losing wickets at key moments of the game. Angus Martin top scored with 45 and was well supported by others. In the end, we fell 10 runs short of St. Mary’s total.

The boys had a great day, showcasing their skills while having a lot of fun. Their behaviour on the day was outstanding and were all great ambassadors for the school.  Thanks to Mr Kenny and Mr Few for coaching.
