Congratulations to everyone for completing the first full week of Remote Learning! The 3/4 teachers are so proud of all of the students and very appreciative of all of the support we are receiving from parents. The best parts of our days are when we get to connect with the students on our daily Zoom chats. We hope you all had a restful weekend and did some fun activities together.

We want all students and families to know that it is ok if you don’t get to all of the work. Do your best to complete what you can, but don’t stress if you can’t finish some work. We are all learning how to manage this new way of school together and we don’t want anyone to feel anxious or stressed out.

The students' work is sent out each day through Google Classroom in the form of Google Slides. Teachers go through the slides with their classes during the morning Zoom check-ins, and also post a video explaining the slides again for students to refer to throughout the day. Optional Zoom chats are also available throughout the day to offer support for the tasks. Teachers post the Zoom codes for these check-ins each day on the Google Classroom stream. These optional Zoom chats are available at about 9:30-10:00 for Literacy task support and from 10:30-11:00 for Maths task support. Encourage your child to access these Zoom chats if they need any help with their activities for the day.

At the end of each day, students can ‘hand in’ their work to Google Classroom. Teachers have posted videos explaining how to do this. Many students have been doing an excellent job of this. Here is a photo of what the students iPad page looks like and the button they press when they have completed the work on their slides for the day.

In Maths last week the students continued to complete activities and play games related to place value. Most of the tasks were designed to give students practise of their skills and build up their quick recall of number facts. Mathletics is always an available option for students to complete during the week as well. In Literacy sessions, the students spent time carefully planning out their goals for Term 2 and developing strategies for how they would like to achieve these goals. Students then uploaded these to Seesaw for their class teachers and parents to see. Achieving goals will look a bit different this term, but we will still work together to help students reach their goals. All the 3/4 teachers enjoy seeing the photo snapshots of students Offline Choice Board activities. Students can continue to insert this photo onto their daily Google Slides.

We look forward to another successful week of Remote Learning! Please don’t hesitate to contact your child's teacher through Sentral if you have any questions or need any support.

Have a lovely week!

The 3/4 teachers.
