Charanga

On-line Music Program

We are very lucky at Footscray West Primary to have the Charanga Music Education program available to us, for no charge, for the whole of term two. The scheme was launched for all students in Grades Prep, One and Two, with usernames and passwords being assigned.

The program is full of songs, movement activities and lots of animation. It is very interactive. Already a number of students have said that they are really enjoying the experience.

Grade Prep students have activities around the unit ‘Big Bear Funk’; Grade One students ‘My Imagination’; Grade Two students ‘The Friendship Song’; and 1/2A Grade One students are joining their Grade Two classmates in working on ‘The Friendship Song’ scheme.

Charanga is used as a resource in music classrooms around the world and, with our current situation, has been adapted to be undertaken independently in the home environment.

My plan is to include Charanga for two weeks in the Prep, Grade One and Grade two planners; go back to the previous style of lessons for a week; then come back to Charanga for another two weeks.

For those students in these grade levels who have not yet logged in for a look and play, I would highly recommend that you give it a try.
