Mr. Timothy Cottrell

As the school year comes to an end, students can rightly feel proud of the way they have re-engaged with school life post covid lock down. We can look forward to a well-earned rest and re-charge over the holiday period in readiness for a new and exciting 2021.

On Tuesday 8th December the College welcomes our new year 7 students for 2021. This is a special group of new year 7s as they have weathered challenging times during 2020 with a grade 6 year unlike any before. Our college has planned for a very special orientation period next year that is designed to cater for the needs of this group, immerse students in an appreciation of Lalor Secondary College life and how they can grasp the many opportunities offered.

Our transition team has visited many of our feeder schools and has spoken with students. We can feel their excitement as well as a little anxiety about this milestone in their lives, and that of families. The college wishes to reassure all families that we are here for them and will be doing our utmost to make the change to secondary school life exciting, rewarding and full of opportunity.

Our believe that our year 8 students will also greet 2021 with enthusiasm and a new start, and we certainly have their needs foremost in our mind following their challenging year. A new ‘inquiry’ pilot for year 8 seeks to really engage the curiosity of our students, and in understanding and directing their learning. Inquiry-based modules will encourage students to wonder and explore their world, anticipating and imagining what rich learnings could enhance discovery.

A great big congratulations to all of our Junior school students and families. Our school picnic on December 15 and based at the College will be a wonderful opportunity for students and staff to relax together and reflect upon a big and eventful year.
