At the time of writing the Year 10 students are currently in their Orientation program for Year 11 2021. The year 12s for 2021 completed their Orientation program last week and this went very well for staff and students. The Orientation programs are designed to give senior students the best possible start to 2021 and include course outlines, careers information, holiday homework and the setting of some key expectations around what success looks like in the Senior School.
Looking back over the year, it is with great pride that I reflect on the work of our entire school community to support the ‘Class of 2020’. It was certainly a unique year where our students rose to the many challenges of the year and they can now be very proud of their efforts. Now that VCAA exams are over, we eagerly await their results and are prepared to support them with their change of preferences when those results are released on December the 30th, 2020. I look forward to the opportunity to celebrate these students at a Graduation Ceremony in 2021.
We are in the process of collecting back the devices loaned to students during the remote learning period. The school needs to take a stocktake of these items so we can assess for any damage and make sure that we are able to use these devices in our classrooms. The devices were due to be returned to the college on Friday 4th December. All students and families have received written communication around this and several reminders. Your support in returning these quickly is much appreciated.
Finally, I wish you all a happy, safe and restful holiday break and I look forward to seeing you all refreshed for another great year at Lalor Secondary College!
