Year 4 incursion with Miles Franklin Winner

On 29 March, our Year 4 students enjoyed a unique experience with Australian author (2015 Miles Franklin winner) Sofie Laguna. Sophie ran a workshop based on The Grace Stories - she even brought in her original manuscript!

Sophie is author of a number of children's and adult books including Eye of the Sheep and The Choke.

2020 Quills awards

Jon Charlton, Principal

Kilvington staff and students thoroughly enjoyed attending the 2020 Quills Awards at Crown Melbourne on Friday 26 March.

The Quills recognise the achievements of the media in Australia. Awards included: The Quill for Recognising Excellence in Indigenous Affairs Reporting; the 45th Graham Perkin Australian Journalist of the Year; and the Melbourne Press Club Lifetime Achievement Award.

The prestigious Gold Quill went to ABC journalist Russell Jackson, recognised for his amazing feature on Aboriginal AFL footballer Robert Muir.  The piece, according to judges, offered a "compelling and confronting insight into the impact of racism".

We were most fortunate to be seated with Russell. Kilvington students were also fortunate to get a photo with Nick McKenzie, the 45th Graham Perkin Australian Journalist of the Year.  Nick’s award was for his work published and broadcast in the Good Weekend and Nine's 60 Minutes, respectively.

Top Designs 2021

The opening of Top Designs 2021 was held on Friday 16 April at the Melbourne Museum. Congratulations to Year 12 student Miles Nathan whose Systems Engineering work from last year features at the exhibition. Student works are on display at the Museum for the next three months.

Kilvington students talk respectful relationships on The Project

Kilvington recently worked with The Man Cave on a segment for The Project about respectful relationships. We are very proud of all the boys who were involved.
