Congratulations 2020 Graduates

Tarneit Senior College in the News - Wyndham Star Weekly 20th January

Congratulations to the 2020 Year 12 cohort who received tertiary offers over the last month.

123 students received first round offers through VTAC, with another 22 VTAC offers made in the February round.

A number of students have also accepted places at tafe by directly applying to the institution.

At this stage, 92% of the cohort are heading into tertiary education, with the remain 8% transitioning in to employment.

We wish all our students the very best of luck for the start of this new part of their lives.

Receiving offers for me was a nervous but an exciting time because even though I applied, at the time I was not convinced that they were the courses I actually wanted to do. But once I received my offers, I felt motivated as I was fortunate to receive two offers, one form William Angliss and Victoria University.

I have accepted the William Angliss course studying Events Management and am excited to start.

Applying; it's a little bit like applying for a job, unless you meet the prerequisites of the job you most likely won't get it. But there's always a chance you might get in regardless.

Being accepted; I was luckily accepted into my first preference but not before filling out details, engaging in phone calls and mandatory test. I had gotten excited when I received an email entailing that I had been accepted, glad I had gone through the work and it pay off, at least before I pay off the course haha

I received my dream offer to study the Bachelor of Psychological Services at ACU. I remember refreshing my email so often that at some stage an email from VCAA actually popped up. I starred at in disbelief and if I've learnt anything from it....is that it isn't about being the best, it's about doing the best that you can with what you are given.

Enrolling into Uni went relatively quick, through some parts weren't very clear. I'm extremely excited to begin my journey and I'd like to thank my teachers once again for helping me achieve my goals.

I waited all day and unfortunately I didn’t get a first round offer. I was a little anxious, but I was able to work with the Careers team to figure a few things out. When I received a call from RMIT offering me a place in their Bachelor of Business (Human Resource Management) as a supplementary offer I was so happy!

Course offers round 1 was a daunting and stressful day, but it was filled with tears of joy as well for me and all my friends from knowing if they got into their dream courses/university or unfortunately if they didn’t. However, don’t forget there are ALTERNATIVE PATHWAYS. My personal experience was anxiety filled and I didn’t even go to sleep on course offers day (I definitely don’t recommend this), but I was quickly snapped into reality when I heard a notification at 8am and boom I was sent my offer from Monash University for Bachelor of Science and Arts knowing that I got into my dream university so early on was definitely a relief, however a lot of my friends didn’t receives offers until 12 so don’t stress about the timing. The round 2 offers even made it more confusing for me personally. I was offered a bachelor of psychology honours from Deakin University making my decision a bit harder if you're as indecisive as me. To differentiate between dream courses and your dream university is difficult, but realising you kind of just have to go with your instincts about these situations and trust that you made the correct decision at that moment. Remember when it comes to your education or aspirations
