Review By Sarah Whitwam-
Congratulations to Sally Tatterson and the Yr9 Drama Class on the brilliant performance of “A Christmas Carol”.
The cast and crew recreated the age old tale of Ebenezer Scrooge facing the Ghosts of Christmas past, present and future to account for ‘her’ miserly and bitter ways.
Ebenezer Scrooge, skillfully played by Charlie Giles, captured the “bah, humbug” of this iconic character. On stage for the whole performance Charlie navigated the shock, fear and awakening of Christmas spirit supported by a stellar team of actors. Riley Darvill as the Ghost of Jacob Marley held focus with a Tim Burtonesque style and Willow Wyld and Dimity Hague added ethereal charm to their characters.
All of the performers were great, from the Cratchetts and Tiny Tim to the top hatted gentlemen and townsfolk. The whole production swept smoothly from scene to scene and the actors hit every mark. What a tribute to the student’s dedication and perseverance.
The design of the production was engaging, with beautiful costumes and set, capturing the Victorian Era. The dynamic lighting and sound scheme captured the darkness and shadows of London. There was also an impressive puppet, a giant ghost, that created an exciting impression on the enthusiastic audience.
Well done to the Yr. 9 Drama Class and Ms. Tatterson- Bravo!
