Recently I had the pleasure of working with some of the VCAL year 11-12 students to design and construct a GAGA Pit for the Cowwarr Primary school which was demolished by a fire in recent times.

This project was a collaborative effort between HTLC, Holy Trinity Lutheran College and Maffra Secondary College VCAL with HTLC raising funds and donating the money raised to schools that have been effected by fires in some way.

Lachlan Coleman, (teacher at MSC) nominated Cowwarr Primary was a worthy candidate for the funds raised and from that I worked with the VCAL students to build a GAGA Pit which we could prefabricate as much as possible for easier assembly on site at Cowwarr Primary.

On Tuesday we delivered the project and completed the GAGA Pit to many excited students and smiling faces eagerly awaiting it to be finished, that alone made it all worthwhile.

A huge thankyou to all the VCAL boys for working on this project, you all did a fantastic job and I was super impressed to see the VCAL students (some who had finished their school year already, others who had finished their secondary schooling completely) come out to Cowwarr Primary in their own time to see this to completion, It’s a credit to all of you and greatly appreciated by myself and I’m sure all the students and staff at Cowwarr Primary.

Finally a big thankyou to Bunnings Sale for their generosity donating materials and also a huge thankyou to Maffra Auto and Steel and Maffra Sheetmetal Works for your time and effort to support  the local community. It really is fantastic to see that community spirit is alive and well.

Thanks again to all involved.
