Wildlife Warriors

Kalinda Primary School National Tree Planting Day

Last Thursday our Wildlife Warriors, Sustainability Leaders and some amazing parent helpers planted gum trees along the urban forest fence line and rejuvenated the garden bed next to the school crossing, as part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Planting Day. This will improve the school's biodiversity and help rejuvenate our school grounds. The students were so engaged and proactive all throughout the morning planting the tress, shoveling mulch and putting in guards to protect the trees. They had a ball!

The Wildlife Warrior’s will be taking responsibility for these trees during school time to ensure they are watered and well maintained. Please keep off these garden beds in order to respect the students work. During summer school holidays we would love it if any families who live nearby would be able to help water them. Please contact Claire Todeschini if you are able to help at all on: Claire.Todeschini@education.vic.gov.au

We would like to thank Maroondah City Council for providing the trees, mulch and guards. A big thank you to Ted for digging the holes in preparation and to our lovely parent helpers for helping on the day.
