Mr Shaun McClare
I would like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which Kalinda Primary school gathers, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging.
The saying goes, 'you don't stop having fun when you get old, you get old when you stop having fun'. This really resonated with me over the last few weeks here at school as our staff, students and parents had so many fun moments together.
Getting dressed up for book week and staff playing netball against the students are two very public ways of how we have fun together at school.
However, we also share so many moments of laughter and silliness together each day at school. It is one of the things I love so much about our students and staf here at Kalinda. Everyone is happy to give things a go, to be a bit silly and share a laugh together.
When I take prospective parents on a tour around the school, the comment I regularly hear is how our school stands out as having such confident and friendly students. Students greet myself and any visitors with a warm smile as we enter the room every day.
Building the wellbeing of all our students is based around trusted relationships with their peers and the staff here at school. Those relationships are strengthened so much when we are silly together, share a laugh and don't mind doing somehting a little bit embarassing.
Thank you to all the families here at Kalinda for also embracing that sense of fun. Let's keep having a laugh together, create wonderful memories for our students and strengthen the relationships that help all our students succeed.
A huge thank you to Ms Todeschini, our Wildlife Warriors, students and parent (and grandparent) volunteers who were involved in our Tree Planting day last week. Planting 26 Eucalyptus tree along the northern fence of our school is fantastic for our school environment and leaves a great legacy that families and wildlife will reap the benefit from in the decades ahead.
We are focused on continually improving the sustainability of all that we do at Kalinda. One of the next exciting things coming up to support this is the installation of solar panels which will begin very shortly.
We have so many great items and photos of great student learning and activities on our Student Learning Page, I hope you will take a look and I'm sure that you will be as impressed as I am at the rich and varied work to celebrate.
We are really looking forward to welcoming our 2023 Foundation students as they begin their transition days next term. Our Foundation teachers are incredibly skilled at ensuring all students can form friendships with their peers, become familiar with our school and grounds and have positive emotions around beginning school.
Our Transition dates and times are:
For any families in our community with younger siblings planning to come to begin at Kalinda in 2023, we would ask that you please submit their enrolment form as soon as possible. This allows us to begin planning for 2023.
