100 Days at school

On Friday 29th of July, Foundation students celebrated their100 days of school. What a celebration it was! We are sure you all had very tired children on Friday night.

The day was jam packed, full of fun activities that all shared a common theme of...100!

The students in both homerooms shared the day together working in mixed groups in various activities.

The day started with a maths theme where children practised counting to 100.  They were challenged to create the number '100' using objects within the learning space. This was a great opportunity to apply some key skills we have been practising in maths including building by tens, making 10 tens frames and using skip counting skills to gather objects.

As part of writing, we imagined ourselves to be 100 years old. We pondered, what would we look like? What would we be doing? Where would we live? The children all surprisingly aspire to be extremely active when they are 100 years old. Some answers included that they are keen to be playing footy, working in a fish and shop, looking after grandchildren and living in Noosa. Sounds like a dream!  The children accompanied their writing with a picture of what they may look like when they are 100 and they created very happy, fit, and wrinkle free 100 year olds.

It was then time to play some games! The children worked very well together both in teams and individually to participate in these games in a friendly and fair manner. We played pass the parcel which included messages inside, crack the code, balance game and of course, a piñata! The children demonstrated important social skills such as turn-taking, sportsmanship, collaborative skills and leadership skills.

We are so proud of just how far our Foundation students have come in 100 days. The growth they are continuing to demonstrate and the curiosity and enthusiasm they display towards their learning is the reason why we teachers love our job so much. We can't wait to watch the students continue to flourish and reach their goals throughout the remainder of the year!
