Book Week

Book Week is coming up in week 7 (22nd – 26th August) -  a week where the focus and activities will be around books and reading. The theme of Book Week is 'Dreaming with eyes open.'

Throughout the week at lunchtimes there will be special activities held in the library - based on books of course!

On Monday afternoon Perform Education will be coming to present a musical based on the shortlisted books.

On Friday morning at 8:55 am our assembly will include a dress up parade. The students are invited to come as a book character. As each child is presented they will announce to everyone the title of the book in which their character features.  If they could bring a copy of the book that would be great!

The year six students have made beautiful picture story books and they will be launching their books at a special breakfast on Tuesday.  They are excited to be taking their books out to local kindergartens to read to children there.

The year five students have also made books and the senior students will be reading to all classes throughout the week.

Chess - tournament invitation

Chess classes have commenced at lunchtimes in the library, and the children are full of enthusiasm for the game. I would like to enter a team in an interschool tournament being held at Kingswood College on Tuesday August 30, so if your child would like to participate shoot me an email lgole@ohrsurreyhills.catholic.edu.au, and I’ll send home an enrolment form.

Overdue books

A number of children have overdue books at the moment. If they have too many overdues students are prohibited from borrowing and this can cause stress and disappointment. I will be sending home overdue notices so if you could assist in returning the books that would be great. Email me with any queries about this.
