Book Week- 20th-26th of August

Each year since 1945 the CBCA has brought children and books together across Australia through CBCA Book Week. During this time schools and public libraries spend one glorious week celebrating books and Australian children's authors and illustrators. Classroom teachers, teacher librarians and public librarians create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. This year's Book Week theme is 'Dreaming with eyes open.'

After 2 years of celebrating remotely through online activities, Monash SDS are excited to be celebrating Book Week on site! On Wednesday the 24th of August, students and staff are encouraged to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character or any fictional/non-fictional character of their choice to participate in our costume parade. We will also be having a writing/drawing competition, a sausage sizzle and our Principal, Assistant Principal and members of the SRC will be visiting classrooms to read to students throughout the day. Students in costume and winners from the competition will receive prizes from our special guest on the day, Bluey the Dog!
