Japanese

This week in Japanese:

It is hard to believe it is nearly the end of Term 4! I have thoroughly enjoyed being back at Monty teaching Japanese again. I am so grateful for all the support I have received from the parents and team Monty. I also would like to say thank you to all the students for trying their best while studying Japanese. Arigatou!

Year 1 students have been learning how to say their age and months of the year in Japanese, while revising how to say numbers. They learned about a festival called 七五三(Shichigosan) – celebrating 3 and 7 year old girls and 5 year old boys. The children usually wear kimono when visiting shrines and temples for this celebration, so we learned about kimono and 1C successfully designed their own kimono this week!

YR3/4 have been learning about sustainability and Japanese expressions around this topic. Mottainai Grandma has been popular with our students while reinforcing an important message about reducing waste. YR3/4 students carefully planned a visit to Foundation and YR1 classes this week and taught them about Mottainai Grandma. Well done YR3/4 for stepping up as leaders and teaching the concept of Mottainai to our Foundation students. The way they worked together was impressive!
