Principal's Report

Principal report

Welcome to 2023!

It has been wonderful to see everyone back for a busy but positive and productive start to the year. Our staff curriculum day on Monday was spent preparing for the beginning of term as well as learning more about strategies and techniques to ensure a calm and consistent learning environment by drawing on our school based Instructional Model and our School Wide Positive Behaviour matrix.

We welcomed many new members of our school community this week which included the year 7 cohort of students and their families as well as students starting with us in other cohorts and their families. We also had a number of new staff start this year and you can learn more about them later in this newsletter.

Our first day assembly went well and ensured that all students knew what was expected of them, where they needed to be and how to get their lockers sorted. We have another assembly later this term for the student leadership program, which is expanding this term and will be taking on a new format and led by our student leadership team. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate our new student leaders. We have Lachlan C and Molly R as our school captains, Marlon A as our Vice Captain for Compassion, Jessica L as Vice Captain – Community and Claire J as Vice Captain – Curiosity and Christina J, Charlie K and Jascha K are our school prefects. I am looking forward to working with the team across the year and supporting them to lead the student body to implement change and improvement in the areas that are important to students as well as support the wider school improvement journey.

I remind all families too of some important events coming up very soon in the term. In particular, our Parent / Student / Teacher conferences which are happening on Tuesday the 14th of February. This is a really important opportunity for families to come into the school and meet the teachers of your children and to learn more about their programs and the school more broadly. We will be running some parent information sessions in the library for any families interested. The schedule for these is:

  • Wellbeing support and how to access them – 3.00 – 3.30pm in the library
  • General school Q& A / Meet the principal – 3.40 – 4.15pm in the library
  • VCE information for parents – 4.30 – 5.00pm in the library

Further information about how to book appointments for this day will be sent out via Compass next week so please keep an eye out for it.
