'Feeling Great in Week 8!'

3/4 Update

My oh my, how the weeks are flying by hey? Teachers have been busy (amid weary eyes!) continuing to assess and write reports. Students have been busy having fun and learning! It's been lovely to see that sun come out later in the week too! Here's what we've been up to this week.....

Reading

We have been continuing to analyse advertising as persuasive texts. Our focus has included looking at holiday brochures and what persuasive techniques these use to make us want to travel to that destination! Students have also enjoyed their usual routine of independent, silent reading and sharing a book with a partner.

Writing

In writing we have been continuing to finish off our graphic novels and narratives, almost there! We have also spent some time editing writing pieces to show correct use of conventions, such as punctuation, spelling and grammar. Students have also used their writing time to start their entry to the School Magazine Cover Competition (if they wish!) or helping create beautiful backgrounds for our grade pages for the school magazine.

Spelling

'y' as in pyramid was the focus this week. Students enjoyed learning about the definitions of words with this spelling choice in it, writing their chosen words outside with chalk and even going on a 'word hunt'. Next week, we are exploring the 'wr' as in wrist.

Maths

We all learned about creating and drawing 3D shapes, such as prisms this week! Language used included: 'top/aerial/birds eye view', 'side view' and 'front view'. A few warm-up games also featured, alongside some assessment activities.

Other stuff....

  • We are planning to do Secret Santa in the Grade 3/4 area due to popular request. We will send home a note early next week to opt in if you want your child to participate.

Enjoy some sun over the weekend,
