PREP

On 23rd November, the prep grades participated in the Prep Breakfast. This activity is part of the school camping program and apart from being lots of fun it encourages students to become more independent at having breakfast and dressing themselves. The students came to school in their pyjamas at 8 o’ clock and enjoyed rice bubbles or cornflakes, toast with vegemite or butter or jam and juice. They also enjoyed some yummy pancakes.

Lots of teachers came to help make and serve the breakfast and it was a great success. The teachers were wearing pyjamas too. They too had lots of fun.

Leading up to the Prep Breakfast, the students practised cleaning dishes and had lots of fun doing that.

After the Prep Breakfast, the students independently washed their dishes and then got dressed. The Prep teachers were super impressed and proud to see the students do everything so independently.

The students did some amazing writing about the Prep breakfast!

The Prep Team

Year 1

Term 4 has continued to be a busy term.

In writing we continued learning about procedures and have also been revising what makes a super sentence. A super sentence needs to make sense, have a capital letter, full stop and include finger spaces.

We learnt how to make our own bubble wands so that we could blow our own bubbles. After having fun with this learning experience we were able to write our own procedures teaching someone else how to make a bubble wand.

Anna from 1C wrote some great super sentences.

During our maths lessons we have had fun playing a range of maths games to reinforce a range of concepts such as place value, addition and subtraction.

A game that we’ve really enjoyed playing is called 5 Moves to 100. If you would like to learn how to play the game as a family at home you can search the game on YouTube and a maths teacher Michael Minas will show you how the game is played.

We’ve been busy learning about safety during Play Based Learning. We have explored what it means to be safe at school, home, in the car and on the road.

Here are some photos of 1D learning about what it means to be safe.

The Year 1 Teachers

Year 2

It’s hard to believe that it is Term 4 and are getting closer to the end of the school year.

Just a reminder to keep sending along sun hats as students who don’t bring their hats are restricted to the play area under the Hay Shed near the canteen, it’s also a good idea to apply sunscreen in the mornings before school.

Year 2 Sleep Over

On Friday the 18th of November for the first time in two years the Year 2’s had a sleep over at school. The sleep over was a great success.

After having many days that were raining during that week, we had a perfect night for our sleep over. Year 2’s started arriving at 6pm at the school equipped with their sleeping gear, bedding, and clothing bags. After setting up where they were going to sleep and laying their beds out, they played on the playground, and we had a mini disco teachers and students had some awesome dance moves! The students enjoyed a pizza dinner, then rotating activities crafts, tunnel ball and parachute games. Followed by supper of fruit and savoury biscuits.

Students changed into their pyjamas and brushed their teeth ready to watch the movie and most went to sleep quickly while others took longer to doze off.  The teachers were hoping for a sleep in but no such luck as soon as the sun was up, so were the Year 2’s! They, quicky got dressed had breakfast and brushed their teeth. Ready to be collected.

Here’s what the Year 2s have to say about the sleep over….
