Mrs Karen Gordon - Director of Co-curricular Music / Coordinator of Strings

Welcome to Clayfield College Music, 2023. Our Music Team here at Clayfield are prepared and looking forward to starting rehearsals in Week 2, commencing Monday 30 January.

All students are welcome to join our un-auditioned choirs and are invited to attend our first rehearsal in Week 2. Please see the list of un-auditioned choirs and ages below:

 

Years 7-12 - Avanti, directed by Miss Spencer. Avanti rehearse on a Wednesday morning at 7:15am in the Chapel. 

 

Years 4-6 – Campo delle Voci, directed by Mrs Slade. Campo delle Voci rehearse on a Tuesday morning at 7:30am in the Chapel.

 

Years 1-3 – Piccolo Choir, directed by Mr Desmarchelier. Piccolo Choir rehearse on a Friday morning at 7:30am in the Chapel.

 

New students in Years 6-9 who are interested in joining the auditioned choir, Ciao Bella are invited to attend an audition on Monday 30 January at lunchtime in MU2. Ciao Bella rehearsals are on Wednesdays from 3:30 - 4:30pm. 

2023 Private Music Tuition

We offer private specialist tuition for the following instrument groups:

 

Piano (from grade 2), Strings (from grade 3), Band (from grade 5), and Vocal (from grade 6).

 

Any student wishing to apply for Private Music Tuition can submit the following online Application form, to be completed by a Parent or Caregiver. Tuition fees, terms and conditions are communicated in the form. 

 

 

Instrumental lessons will commence from Monday 30 January.  Instrumental Tutors will be issuing their timetables to parents and students by the end of this week.

Musicians are on the move!

Our Music Administration and Music Staff offices have moved to the bottom level of the Music Annexe. We also have an added Music classroom beside the String room, MU3.  There will be a collaboration of musical sounds absorbing the Gregory Street side of the school!

Staffing News

We are delighted to welcome Ms Andrea Sitas (Double Bass) who will be joining our team. Andrea is an accomplished Bass player and also runs the String program at St. Catherine’s Primary School. We are thrilled to have such an enthusiastic performer and educator joining the program.

Student and Staff Achievements

Congratulations to Hannah McDonald who was awarded an Honours (A) for her Grade 8 AMEB comprehensive Viola exam at the end of 2022. Hannah has now completed all AMEB Grade levels and will start to work on an Associate Music Diploma for Viola.

 

Congratulations to Lillian Child who was awarded an Honours (A) for her Grade 3 AMEB comprehensive Cello exam at the end of 2022.
