Adrian Walker: Artistic Director - Creative and Performing Arts

I’m delighted to return to Clayfield College as the Artistic Director – Creative and Performing Arts. My role will involve leadership and co-ordination of resources within the cultural areas to ensure excellence in the Arts. I will promote connections within our community and beyond by enhancing the lived Clayfield Experience through fostering, expanding and developing collaborative partnerships. I have a vision to implement a range of artistic and cultural initiatives and experiences from PP to Year 12, which will include Drama and Dance co-curricular activities, signature events and the School Musical.

I have worked professionally in the Arts, as a dancer who toured world-wide with Michael Flatley’s ‘Lord of the Dance’, have run my own dance academy, and organised and adjudicated international dance competitions. In a college setting, I have been a Senior Drama Teacher, House Coordinator, Drama Coordinator, and the Head of Faculty – Arts, and I’m looking forward to my innovative position as Artistic Director.

I’m excited to be part of Clayfield College’s new chapter. Clayfield is a vibrant and warm community, which is enhanced through out artistic endeavours, and I plan on sharing this joy with our community.

It’s wonderful to be home.

Fran Wilson: Director of Experiential Learning

I am so excited to be taking on the role of Director of Experiential Learning at Clayfield College for the beginning of the 2023 school year.

As Director of Experiential Learning, I will be responsible for the development and delivery of both existing and new learning experiences for students at Clayfield College that occur outside the traditional classroom.  I will be particularly focused on further developing and expanding the Outdoor education program as well as continuing as Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader. This position allows me to draw on my knowledge and passion for outdoor and environmental education.

My teaching career began over 2 decades ago, where I was initially employed by Education Queensland, teaching science and maths in various state high schools for over 15 years. In 2018, I was employed here at Clayfield College as a science teacher. Since then, I have had had various roles as House Leader, Acting Head of Year, Head of Department and Duke of Edinburgh Award Leader. I am a passionate science teacher who loves the outdoors.

My interest in the outdoors is strongly connected to my childhood, where my wonderful family would take my sister and I to Springbrook or Binna Burra to go bushwalking on a Sunday. This has led to a strong love of all outdoors activities. My university holidays were spent exploring National Parks between Brisbane and Port Macquarie and since then I have gained qualifications as a bushwalking and canoe guide. As a mother of 3 girls, I understand how important it is for the development of young people to spend time outdoors connecting with nature. These experiences enhance our views on life and offer opportunities to challenge and grow. I feel very blessed to be able to now lead the college in providing our students with challenging, exciting and different experiences to help them learn and set them up for success in life beyond school.

Jacques Stemmet: Head of STEM

I am delighted to join Clayfield College as the new Head of STEM.

In this role, I will be specifically responsible for the development and delivery of quality programs and courses in the fields of Science, Technology and Mathematics at Clayfield College. A key focus of the growth and development in these fields will be the integration of new technologies that will aid our learners in their future roles within society whilst building on current effective programs. I will focus my strategic vision on the growth of subjects in the Engineering and Technology field which will align with the Clayfield College Pillar of Learning through experiences.

I have been teaching in State and Independent schools across Australia and South Africa for more than 16 years, 8 years serving as Head of Department. I hold a Bachelor of Education (Honours) majoring in Technologies, with multiple post graduate qualifications including a Certification in Education Leadership. My time as House Director of Wellbeing has also served to cultivate a sense of societal and peer pressures on learners today and how holistic teaching can help students overcome adverse situations. I am raising two beautiful girls, aged 2 and 5, alongside my wife Athena who is also an educator.
