Principal's Report - Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,
STAFF NEWS
We farewelled Miss Monika Rosic last week and we wish her well at her new school. We thank Miss Rosic for the fine contribution she has made to Fairvale PS over many years, firstly as a student (and School Captain), SLSO and then as a teacher. Miss Pear Higgins will be teaching KR for the remainder of 2022. There will be some staff changes in 2023 and I will announce these changes in the final newsletter on Thursday 15 December, 2022.
BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT
My last bike visits for 2022 was to OSH CLUB on Wednesday, after FAIR DAY.
OSH CLUB – It was lovely to spend some time at OSH CLUB checking out all the fabulous things that go on there. When I arrived, the children were very excited to talk about FAIR DAY. After that they all participated in wide range of free-time activities whilst afternoon tea was being prepared. Some children were playing basketball with Miss Monica, some were reading and eating their lollypops, whilst others played soccer. Inside the hall, there was a small group making crafty fish pictures with Miss Penny. Everyone was excited to see Miss Safia wheel the trolley out of the kitchen, full of afternoon tea. It looked scrumptious (and my favourite), nachos and fruit! I also scored a cola lollypop from Yassen - it was yummy! I had a fun time at OSH CLUB and it seems everyone else does too, as the student numbers continue to rise! On Thursday 15 December, 2022, OSH CLUB will hold an OPEN DAY morning, where parents/ carers can visit to learn more about this wonderful service.
Check out some of my pics in this edition of the school newsletter.
FAIR DAY
Yesterday we celebrated our annual end of year COVID-smart Fairvale Fair Day. It was an enjoyable day for students, their families and the staff of Fairvale PS. The day does not happen without the support of our staff and I would like to take this opportunity to acknowledge and thank every Fairvale PS staff member for their role – it really is a team effort! I would also like to thank our 2022 FAIR DAY project team leaders – Mrs Fedele and Miss David – an outstanding job leading the way! It was lovely to see parents/ carers back visiting our school, it is something that we all have missed. Monies raised on the day will go towards beautification projects across the school.
REPEATED: 2023 ORGANISATION
We are currently organising class structures for 2023. If you are returning to Fairvale PS in 2023 you do not need to anything, however, if you are planning on leaving OR returning a little late then we need you to notify the office. Please contact the office if you need more information.
SCHOOL SWIMMING AND WATER SAFETY
On Monday 5 December, 120 children from Years 2 to Year 6 will participate in the school’s swimming and water safety program at Fairfield Leisure Centre. The program will assist students to sustain confidence whilst in the water as well as focus on basic survival skills to help keep children and their families safe around water. I am looking forward to dropping by the pools to see their progress over the two weeks.
PRINCIPALS NETWORK AWARDS
I am very excited to announce that some of our colleagues and community members recently received an 'Excellence Award' for demonstrating significant achievement in their role, making a valuable contribution to the achievement of the Department of Education and the promotion of NSW Public Education. The award recipients received their award at two different events a few weeks ago. Special mention to Mrs Tsioras, who won her category against other schools in metropolitan South and West Directorate. Wonderful achievement!
