Hello, from our students and teachers.

Hello from Foundation One Lowe-

Mrs. Nicole Lowe

Literacy.

We have been learning to reflect on a topic and form an opinion. We then thought of reasons to support our view.

We were reflecting on what animal would make a great pet.

Here are some samples to enjoy

 Mathematics - Estimating jar.

In our room a student gets to take the estimating jar home and fill it with objects. They bring it back to school and the other class members estimate how many objects are in the jar. We are getting very good at making reasonable estimates.

We then empty the contents of the jar and decide if we would like to change our estimate.

The objects are then arranged, to make them easier to count, and counted. We calculate how close our estimate was to to the actual amount.

Here is a photo of one of our estimating jars.

Now an opportunity for you to try estimating at home. Remember estimate the quantity - then count.

Have a few people in you family join you and see who gets the closest.

Enjoy!
