VTAC

As this is only the second time that VTAC has made domestic December round offers VTAC have prepared the following information to assist students.

Who is eligible for the December offer round?

Students from VIC, TAS, NSW, ACT and the IB (May sitting only) are eligible for the December offer round.

Courses NOT making December round offers

VTAC have collated a list of courses that institutions have advised VTAC to date will not participating in the December offer round, however please be aware that not all institutions have confirmed either way. If VTAC are notified of further courses not participating in the December offer round, we will add them to this list. Please keep in mind that institutions undertake their own course selection, and manage their own offer process; e.g. how many offers they make and when.

December and January will be the bigger offer rounds

It is anticipated that the majority of course offers will be made in the December and January offer rounds.  Some courses, particularly those that take low numbers, or are otherwise competitive to get into, may fill up during these two rounds.  It is important that students understand the need to decide on their ideal course and get their preferences in order in time for December round to maximise their chance of getting an offer.  All courses will make offers in the January round, but these may be limited if there is a large uptake of their December offers.

Change of preference windows are brief

As students will hopefully be aware, change of preference closes for eligible applicants on 14 December at 4pm for December round offers. Please check the dates for all change of preference deadlines.

Please note also the brief change of preference period after December round. Change of preference reopens when offers are released on 21 December, and then closes 22 December at 4pm.  Once again, students will need to think clearly and act quickly if they wish to change preferences in time for the January offer round.  They should also be aware that this might be the final chance to get into their course of choice.

Students should be encouraged to consider their options if they achieve higher or lower results than expected so they are ready to change their preferences for the December and January offer rounds.

Support for students and parents

VTAC is introducing new webinars to support students in preparing for their results, making informed course decisions and understanding the tight turnaround for accepting December offers.

Year 12 students (and their supporters) may like to consider attending one of VTACs upcoming webinars Get Ready for your Results.

There are also a range of explainers and videos on the VTAC YouTube channel.
