Holiday Homework

Bunnings Fundraiser BBQ - Saturday 21st August

We need your help!!! The SMPS Family & Friends group is hosting a Bunnings Fundraiser BBQ to raise money to re-make the garden on level 1.

Saturday 21st August 2021

Bunnings Port Melbourne, 

501 Williamstown Road, Port Melbourne

Start: 9am.  End: 4pm.

 

Everyone at SMPS can help! You can:

  • Volunteer at the BBQ for 2 hours
  • Donate some money to help pay for the food and drinks
  • Lend something needed for the day
  • Visit the BBQ and buy a sausage in bread, (beef or vegetarian)
  • Buy something at Bunnings and donate it to the SMPS level 1 garden

🆘 VOLUNTEERS

We need 16 people to be part of our volunteer team, each person doing a 2 or 2.5 hour shift. Why not sign up with a friend and come along together? 

Tasks include: welcoming our customers, taking payment (a calculator will be available), cooking, and serving. 

Please note: You will need to wear a fitted face mask for your shift. There will not be a child or pet minding facility available.

💰 DONATIONS

If you would like to make a monetary donation to help pay for the 70 kgs of sausages, 40 loaves of bread, 25 kgs of onions, 10 litres of sauces, 500 cans of soft drink and bottles of water and 10 bags of ice we have to provide for the BBQ, please email smps.faf@outlook.com and we'll be in touch. Any amount contributed will be greatly appreciated and will increase our BBQ profits.

 

🪣 LEND SOMETHING

Bunnings are generously providing much of what we need on the day, (BBQ, tables, gazebo), but there a lot of things we need to bring. If you have any of these items and would be able to lend them to us to use for the day, we would be very thankful. Please email smps.faf@outlook.com by 31 July 2021 and we'll be in touch.

  • Esky's/coolers with lids (for meat and onions to be stored in)
  • Esky's/coolers or plastic tubs without lids (for drinks to be stored in ice)
  • Cooking utensils (tongs, spatula)
  • Food thermometer (to check food is at the required temperature both while being stored and while being cooked)
  • Plastic tubs with lids (for storage of bread)
  • Food handling gloves (hygiene requirements)
  • Single use aprons (hygiene requirements)

🌭 BUY A SAUSAGE

We will be selling sausages in bread, with beef and vegetarian options available, as well as cans of soft drink and bottles of water. We hope to see you there!

 

🧹 BUY SOMETHING FOR THE GARDEN

Can't get there on the 21st of August but still want to contribute? Then head down to Bunnings any time and shop for something you can donate to the SMPS Garden Club. Items can be handed in to the school's office. Our wish list includes:

 

⛲️  Watering cans 1.7 litre (cost around $5 each)

🧤 Children's gardening gloves (Hortex Grubs Hand Mate gloves) (cost around $4 each)

 👨‍🌾 Sugar cane mulch (Oreco sweet gardener's 26m2 organic sugar cane mulch (costs around $17 each)
