Year 9 Camp
The year 9's went to camp this week - here are some recounts from students in what they experienced.
On Monday 2nd August to Wednesday 4th August, the majority of year nine students ventured off into the beautiful wildlife of Kinglake, to attend Kinglake Forest Adventure Camp.
Students participated in a number of leadership building activities, to allow us to grow our leadership skills, social skills and strengthen our mental wellbeing.
Off the bat, we were encouraged to expect change and to identify the characteristic traits that make us who we are today. We participated in activities that pushed us on a variety of levels, such as multiple forms of meditation and hiking, to a leap of faith and high rope-free falling.
Students also engaged in extreme games of murder in the dark where my friends and I hid under the tall jungle trees and the bright stars. We also engaged in an intense game of the hunger games where we were split into three “districts” and completed a number of challenges where my team district three came out on top!
By the end of it all, we acknowledged all our growth with the help of our amazing camp counsellors, and left Kinglake recognising our excellence and importance as upcoming leaders.

On the 2nd of August, The year 9’s travelled to Kinglake Adventure camp, where each group learnt various skills revolving around leadership and team collaboration skills. Throughout the camp, groups would participate in numerous activities including; the leap of faith, free fall, the giant see-saw and a group journey art piece. These tasks would encourage clear communication, engagement from each person and positive teamwork to complete the activities. A major part of the camp was making a group journey art piece which resembles our time at the camp. When we created this, it gave us thoughts of what skills we had gained from the camp and then implement them with symbols and so with a lot of team input, we decided various objects would signify different objects, such as a ladder meaning growth and also the fire identifying as becoming bigger people within our lives.
