Principal's Report

Goodbye and Good Luck

On behalf of our Boronia Heights Family I would like to wish Karen, Dave, MacKenzie and Logan all the very best on their adventure up north to Cairns.  The whole family have decided to experience life in sunny Cairns and have already secured jobs, schools and a home. I wish them every success and happiness and look forward to hearing all about their journey.  We welcome to our BHPS family, Bec Bird who has had a handover from Karen already and who cannot wait to continue on where Karen has left of in the STEAM Lab.

Traffic Safety

Over the last few weeks we have had two near misses with students running onto the road chasing after balls on their way home.  Please speak to your children and make sure that they understand road safety and not to play with balls on the way home and to cross the roads with care.  Luckily for us they were two of our parents behind the wheel and were travelling slowly.

Oval

Oval and grounds works will be operating during the holidays. Our new fence construction around the whole school will be starting and we will be having a large shade sail installed outside the year 5/6 classrooms. To complete this area we will then be installing synthetic grass and four square courts.

Our ovals are completed with just the garden surrounds and some concreting to be completed.  The end is in sight…

School Enrolment for 2022

We are about to begin our 2022 Prep planning. We are encouraging all current parents to enrol any siblings as soon as possible to allow us to effectively plan for the next school year. If you have a child that will be attending BHPS in 2022 we ask that you complete an enrolment form at your earliest convenience.

Good Luck Sarah

I would also like to send our best wishes and support for Sarah Weichert who is leaving us on Friday 25th June to prepare for the birth of her first child. We are so very happy for Sarah and Simon and we know they will be amazing parents. Following a recruitment process I would like to announce and welcome Miss Nicole Gladman who will replace Sarah. The children have met Nicole this week as she joined the Year 5 classroom to have a detailed handover ready for next term.

Lost Property

A reminder to clearly name all clothing items, lunch boxes & drink bottles. If they are lost, they can be easily identified and returned to the correct owner. The location for lost property is located next to the Chaplain’s Office.

Hubsters

Our wonderful fundraising committee are starting to put together the two big raffles for the Production nights.  We would love anything that you could donate to this raffle, such as wine, chips, biscuits, savoury items, chocolate etc. If when you are doing your shopping you could throw an extra item in your shopping trolley we would be very grateful.  Thank you so much for your continued generosity.

Cadbury Chocolate Fundraiser

It’s that time of year again for one of our largest fundraisers of the year.

This year each family will receive a mixed box of 60 pieces, which is $60 per box.

Chocolates are to be sold for $1.00 each

You will receive the box on Monday, 19 July 2021 with your youngest child, unless you return the slip.

We will have prizes for the most boxes sold and you will have a chance to win a raffle prize if your chocolate money is returned on time.

Your support with this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated and all funds raised contribute to improving the school grounds and facilities - at the moment we’re working towards new playground equipment!

If you DO NOT wish to sell a box of chocolates this year, you must fill in the slip and return it to school by Tuesday, 14 July (second day of Term 3).

Reports

Teachers have been busy preparing student reports over the past few weeks. Part of the reporting to parents’ process is assessment to determine student progress at the current point in time. They will be available for parents in the afternoon of Thursday 24th June. Student-led conferences will be held in term 3. Remember, you can make an appointment to talk with your child’s teacher at any time to discuss their progress or any concerns. Teachers will also be in contact with parents if they have any concerns about your child’s progress or behaviour.

As we head into the weekend and holidays, I hope all of our families are safe and well following the devastating storms of last week. If any families need any support with meals or anything else our community could help with, please let me know.

I have been overwhelmed by the spirit of community these past weeks and I know our BHPS community is also very strong and has supported families over the past two weeks.

Take care over the holidays, enjoy the freedom of being able to move around, enjoying family and friends.
