The Year 10 team of Emily Tyson, Ben Linsten and Alex Panther has been competing in the World Scholar’s Tournament of Champions at Yale University.
The John XXIII team was undefeated in their three debates, a wonderful performance at this high level of competition. We are excited with the wonderful results from Yale World Scholars! All three team members performed extremely well, and we gained a total of 16 gold and 11 silver medals – splendid for a team of three.
Emily Tyson was the standout and the top student from Australia, not just WA. She ranked 15th in the world out of nearly 900 students competing in the Tournament of Champions. Emily won 9 gold medals – an exceptional performance. Ben Linsten (4 gold) and Alex Panther (3 gold) also did extremely well, and the team was very strong in team as well as individual sections.
A second highlight for this week is that or Year 8 team which came second in the Quest Challenge has qualified for the National finals in Brisbane. Full details for both events will be in the next newsletter.
