Leadership and Management

Book Week

A big thank you to the Galilee community for your support during Book Week.  The Scholastic Book Fair has been another successful year.  The total amount raised for our school will be published in the next newsletter.  A special thanks to the grandparents who contributed to the Book Fair and donated extra money to purchase resources for the Library.

Well done to all our students and teachers for dressing up as book characters on Wednesday.  The creativity that went into costume designs were outstanding.  The lucky winners from each class were awarded with a voucher to spend at the Book Fair.

On Monday the students will participate in an incursion for Book Week by Perform! Education.  The production will feature a selection of the CBCA Shortlisted books from the Children's Book Council of Australia annual Book Awards.  The production will also deal with specific personal development issues such as self-esteem, bullying, anger management and co-operation. The focus of this year's production, Treasure Hunt, is a reminder to appreciate how important nature and the environment is and how the way to improve the world in which we live is to work towards it cooperatively.

NAPLAN Online-School Readiness Test (SRT)

As mentioned in an earlier newsletter this term, all schools will be moving to NAPLAN Online next year.  In preparation for this, we must complete a School Readiness Test (SRT) with our current NAPLAN classes.  The aim of the SRT is to test the speed and accuracy of our devices and to provide feedback of the our experience to the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA).

Year 5O will have a practice Writing test tomorrow morning and Year 3R will have a practice Omnibus test (mixture of Reading, Language Conventions and Numeracy) on Wednesday 5th September.
