Applied Learning
As we celebrate the achievements of Year 7 and 8 in Applied Learning for Term 3, we acknowledge the wonderful efforts that all students have made in online learning. It has been a joy for Mr Fabila, Mrs Woodland and myself to meet with our students online during Microsoft Teams meetings and to still be collaborating on their Term 3 Projects, albeit in a somewhat different learning environment.
All students should be immensely proud of themselves for their sustained inquiry to their learning in Applied Learning and also their fabulous project concepts.
Year 7
Rock Box: ‘How did this rock get here?
This term Year 7 having been studying Igneous, Metamorphic and Sedimentary Rocks as well as the structure of the Earth, how Fossils are formed, The Rock Cycle, Minerals as well as Deposition, Weathering and Erosion.
Mrs Woodland has been liaising with teachers at Gosford Public School in relation to Year 3 and 4 and their studies in Science / Rocks. After doing some data analysis, our students have been coming up with their Rock Box Project – teaching resources to be gifted to our friends at Gosford Public School.
Here are just a few….
Year 8
Mask Up: How has history and science helped us in the battle against COVID-19?
Let’s Podcast!
Year 8 have been working collaboratively in their teams in breakout rooms during on-line learning this term. Their project has been to research The Black Death, Scientific Discoveries made over time and Healthy and Hygienic Practices – especially healthy practices while residing in lockdown.
Our students have been so creative in their approach to writing podcast scripts, selecting music and creating as professionally as they can, Intro’s and Outro’s to their Podcasts. I would like to thank Mr Fabila and his expertise in Music Audio for leading the Applied Learning Team in the implementation of this project.
They have also been designing Thumbnails for their podcasts which will be shared via social media to the Henry Kendall Community via our school website and Facebook page!
So, Keep an EYE and EAR out!
